Frequently Asked Questions
Everything contractors, distributors, and facility developers ask before working with us.
The Biomass Macwood System is the world's first bio-based waterproof sports flooring. Unlike traditional hardwood, it uses a 25mm biomass macwood panel over a BPC (wood-plastic composite) keel structure — making it fully waterproof, termite-proof, and UV-resistant.
Traditional hardwood requires constant HVAC control to prevent warping, cannot be used outdoors, and is vulnerable to moisture and pests. Macwood eliminates all of these issues while meeting the same FIBA Level-1 performance standards. It also has a 30+ year indoor lifespan and 15+ year outdoor lifespan with minimal maintenance.
Our products hold the following certifications:
- FIBA Approved Equipment — Wooden Flooring & Synthetic Flooring (Biomass Macwood and Multi-Layer systems)
- FIBA 3×3 Outdoor — Portable Biomass Macwood System
- EN14904 — EU standard for indoor sports floors
- SGS — Approved by Société Générale de Surveillance
- Labosport — Independent laboratory test reports for all performance claims
- ISO 9001 — Quality management system
- EN REACH & ROHS — Non-toxic, food-grade material compliance
Certification documents are available upon request for project specification purposes.
A quick guide based on project type:
- Biomass Macwood — Best for outdoor courts, portable/temporary competition venues, multi-use arenas, or any project where waterproofing and low maintenance are priorities. Also the most cost-effective to install and maintain long-term.
- Multi-Layer Hardwood — Best for permanent indoor sports halls, fitness centers, and university gyms that require professional-grade performance with dimensional stability across climate changes.
- Hardwood System — Best for prestige indoor venues where authentic solid maple or birch aesthetics are specified, such as professional basketball courts, dance studios, and high-end school facilities.

Yes. The Biomass Macwood system is officially approved by FIBA as both Wooden Flooring and Synthetic Flooring Equipment, and the Portable version is certified for FIBA 3×3 Outdoor competition. All key performance metrics are verified by Labosport independent testing:
- Force Reduction: 50–75% (FIBA standard)
- Vertical Deformation: 2.3–5.0mm
- Ball Rebound: ≥93%
- Slip Resistance: 80–110 BPN
- Resistance to Wear: ≤80mg
Yes. We offer full custom UV printing on our Biomass Macwood and synthetic flooring systems. This includes team logos, sponsor branding, custom court colorways, and multi-sport line markings. Each panel is pre-fabricated in our factory and assembled on-site. Note: custom printing is not available for the solid Hardwood System.
We have 10 standard color options and can accommodate custom Pantone color matching for brand-specific requirements.
It depends on the system:
- Portable Biomass Macwood — A full NBA-sized competition court can be assembled in as little as 4 hours. No professional installation team required.
- Permanent Biomass Macwood (Pro/Elite) — Typically 3–7 days for a standard court, depending on subfloor preparation.
- Multi-Layer Hardwood / Hardwood System — 5–10 days for a standard court, including surface finishing and line marking.
All systems include detailed installation guides. We can also provide on-site technical support for large or complex projects.
For permanent systems (Macwood Pro/Elite and Hardwood), the subfloor should be concrete or solid screed — flat, clean, and structurally sound. Our patent-design adjustable foot pad system accommodates minor undulations without requiring a perfectly level subfloor, which reduces site preparation costs.
For the Portable Macwood system, it can be installed over almost any hard flat surface including concrete, asphalt, or existing flooring — no adhesive or permanent fixings required.
Yes — this is one of Macwood's core advantages. The system is fully waterproof, UV-resistant, and anti-termite. It has been engineered specifically to perform outdoors without shelter, in high humidity, tropical heat, and environments prone to flooding or heavy rain.
The outdoor lifespan is 15+ years with standard cleaning only. No HVAC, no refinishing, no warping — unlike traditional hardwood which cannot be reliably used outdoors.
The Portable Biomass Macwood System saves up to 90% on installation costs compared to traditional hardwood, primarily because it requires no specialist installation team, no adhesive, and no surface finishing on-site.
The permanent Macwood systems also reduce ongoing maintenance costs by up to 60% — no HVAC running costs, no annual refinishing, and no specialist maintenance contracts needed. Over a 15-year period, the total cost of ownership is significantly lower than equivalent hardwood systems.
Minimum order quantities vary by product and project type. For project inquiries, we typically work on a per-court or per-project basis with no rigid MOQ for qualified contractors and distributors.
For wholesale or distributor pricing, please contact us with your expected annual volume and territory, and our team will provide a tailored proposal.
Lead times depend on product type, order volume, and customization requirements:
- Standard in-stock products — 2–3 weeks from order confirmation to shipping
- Custom color or logo orders — 4–6 weeks
- Large volume / full project supply — Timeline confirmed at quotation stage
We ship from Guangzhou, China via sea freight (LCL or FCL) to all major ports. Express air freight is available for urgent or sample orders.
Yes. We provide physical samples for qualified contractors and distributors so you can evaluate surface feel, construction quality, and color options before committing to a full project order. Sample requests can be made through our contact page.
We provide a full set of export and compliance documentation, including:
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Certificate of Origin
- FIBA certification letters and test reports (Labosport)
- EN REACH and ROHS compliance declarations
- Product technical data sheets and installation manuals
Additional documentation required for specific markets (e.g., US customs, EU CE marking) can be discussed at the quotation stage.
All Copo Sports flooring systems come with a 15-year performance warranty covering structural integrity, FIBA performance compliance, and surface durability under normal use conditions. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, delamination, and dimensional failure — not damage caused by improper installation or misuse.
Warranty documentation is provided with every order and can be included in project handover packages for your clients.
Maintenance is minimal compared to traditional hardwood:
- Daily — Dry mop or dust the surface to remove debris
- Weekly — Damp mop with a neutral pH cleaner; avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads
- No refinishing required — Unlike solid hardwood, Macwood does not need sanding or re-coating
- No HVAC required — The floor does not expand or contract with temperature or humidity changes
This translates to significant ongoing savings for facility operators — no annual maintenance contracts, no specialist floor care teams.
Individual panels on the Portable Macwood system can be replaced without affecting the rest of the court — this is one of its key advantages for high-use or rental venues. For permanent systems, section replacement is also possible and significantly easier than replacing traditional hardwood planks.
We recommend clients keep a small stock of spare panels (typically 2–5% of total surface area) for long-term projects.
